Action! Gulf Coast Rep Theatre Takes the Stage Along the Gulf Coast

November 19, 2025 | Foley, AL — The Gulf Coast Rep, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) theatre company, continues to expand its presence as a dynamic creative force along the Gulf Coast, advancing theatre as a catalyst for empathy, diversity, equality, and meaningful community dialogue. With a mission centered on developing new work, supporting artists of all backgrounds, and cultivating a forward-thinking arts ecosystem, the company produces a blend of original pieces and established classics while performing entirely through pop-up venues across the region. This flexible model allows the Rep to bring high-quality theatre directly to communities, transforming unexpected spaces into imaginative stages.
This winter, The Gulf Coast Rep will present its popular murder mystery dinner theatre, Murder in Our Building, taking over Magnolia Hall in Orange Beach throughout January and February. This lively, interactive evening invites guests to enjoy dinner, comedy, and immersive storytelling while helping unravel an original whodunit crafted by the Rep’s creative team.
The 2025–2026 season reflects one of the organization’s most ambitious visions yet. The schedule includes the regional premiere of Just Frank, a comedic work years in development, and a new staging of the beloved classic The Miracle Worker. The Rep is also preparing its first New Works Festival, which will feature staged readings, writing workshops, panel discussions with theatre professionals, and at least one fully produced world premiere—solidifying its commitment to developing new plays and guiding them toward future commercial success.
The Gulf Coast Rep continues to build strong relationships with theatres, dance companies, arts organizations, and educational institutions throughout the region, fostering a collaborative cultural community that supports artistic growth and innovation. This alliance, paired with the Rep’s rich programming, positions the organization as a vital contributor to the Gulf Coast’s creative landscape.
As a nonprofit, Gulf Coast Rep relies on generous community support to sustain and expand its mission. Approximately 92% of donor contributions go directly toward developing new work, funding productions, compensating actors and creative teams, and supporting educational outreach. Partnerships with individual donors, businesses, and organizations such as The Cromeans Foundation and the Alabama State Council on the Arts help ensure that bold, original theatre continues to thrive along the Gulf Coast.
With its pop-up performance model, new works development, immersive experiences, school outreach, and an exciting season ahead, The Gulf Coast Rep is redefining accessible, community-rooted theatre—bringing imaginative storytelling to unexpected places all across the Gulf Coast.
