Where Hope Has Room to Play: Family Promise Unveils New Playground & Pavilion

Ribbon Cutting for Family Promise of Baldwin County

January 30, 2026 | Summerdale, AL — Family Promise of Baldwin County is thrilled to announce the grand opening of its new playground and pavilion, a vibrant community space designed to support the well-being of families working toward housing stability and economic independence. For more than a decade, Family Promise has been a beacon of hope for families experiencing homelessness or at risk of losing their homes. With a mission to provide temporary shelter, transitional housing, and nurturing support, Family Promise works to help families achieve stable, permanent housing while keeping family units together during some of life’s most challenging moments.

At the heart of the organization’s work is a holistic model that addresses both immediate needs and long-term stability. Through emergency shelter provided by the Interfaith Hospitality Network, families receive meals, lodging, and hospitality via local congregations committed to offering dignity and community support. In addition to shelter, Family Promise offers comprehensive case management and connects families with critical community resources — including employment assistance, childcare, financial literacy programs, education support, and referrals to housing and job opportunities. These wraparound services empower parents and caregivers to build economic resilience and ensure that children thrive in stable homes.

Since 2008, the organization’s coordinated approach to addressing homelessness has helped hundreds of local families rebuild their lives. Rather than separating family members during crises, Family Promise keeps families together, providing compassionate care while guiding them toward long-lasting independence. The new playground and pavilion symbolize Family Promise’s commitment to nurturing the whole family. These spaces will serve as safe places for children to play, families to gather, and community partners to host events and workshops — all contributing to a sense of belonging and community healing.

The playground and pavilion project was fully funded by Impact 100 Baldwin County, a philanthropic giving circle of women committed to making a profound impact in the community by awarding high-impact grants to local nonprofits. Through a model known as collective giving, Impact 100 pools annual $1,000 donations from its members to award significant grants in five focus areas: Arts, Culture & Recreation; Education; Environment & Preservation; Family; and Health & Wellness. Founded in 2008, Impact 100 Baldwin County has awarded millions of dollars in transformational grants to nonprofit organizations across the region, empowering agencies like Family Promise to broaden their reach and deepen their impact. The organization’s all-volunteer structure ensures that 100% of member contributions go directly toward grant awards.
