The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (ADCNR) annually hosts Free Fishing Day to allow people to fish recreationally in Alabama public waters without a fishing license. While a fishing license will not be required to fish at an Alabama State Park on Free Fishing Day, please remember that applicable State Park gate entry, parking, and/or pier fees will still apply. Shark Fest 2025 is here! Buy your advance pass NOW to enjoy access to this three-day event with no line! Throughout Shark Fest, patrons can participate in various activities related to the iconic shark species in the Gulf - all allowing participants to dive deep into the incredible world of sharks. From arts and crafts and a scavenger hunt to educational programs, a stingray touch tank, and more - we can't wait to see you there!
The Gulf State Park team is excited about Shark Fest partnerships, too! Each day, the Marine Resources Division of ADCNR will have a touch tank filled with various ray species native to the Gulf, and researchers from the Mississippi State University Marine Fisheries Ecology program will host excellent programs you don't want to miss.
The admission fee for Shark Fest is only $3 per person, and parking is free with paid attendance. Pre-registration is NOT required, but HIGHLY encouraged. Wristbands can also be purchased at the event using cash or a card.

Since the opening of the first state parks in Alabama, trails have been a fundamental part of the park system’s mission to provide and maintain outdoor recreational opportunities. Alabama State Parks is equipping trail enthusiasts not just to use the trails but to be a vital part of keeping them going with just a few clicks. Dirt Pass Trail Crew membership donations are made online, and a package including the official Dirt Pass wristband, trail gift, and t-shirt is mailed to contributors immediately.
